Undaunted: Stories from the Front Line

Hotel Jerome Ballroom | June 21, 2019

As our planet warms and we face an acrimonious fight over resources of all kinds, how do the global health movement's most impassioned advocates take care of themselves and others? In this dynamic evening of short personal stories, hear doctors, farmers, scientists, educators, and activists from all over the world zero in on why precariousness is only properly met with communities that care for one another. These experts will share what they have learned living and working in some of the world’s hardest-to-reach communities, where developing trust is crucial to building healthy communities.

Aspen Ideas Incubator: Driving Ideas to Action

Aspen meadows resort | June 18-20, 2019

Each year, the Aspen Global Innovators Group curates a powerful multi-disciplinary group at the Aspen Ideas Incubator to tackle critical issue areas in global and community health – issues that no single individual or organization can solve alone. Over the past 4 years, the Incubator has convened more than 120 health leaders, mobilized significant investments in global and community health, and has incubated major ideas to action, including the Last Mile Health’s Community Health Academy, the University of Global Health Equity, and the Community Health Impact Coalition.

In 2019, the ideas selected to be incubated address the social determinants of health - the conditions that affect life expectancy outside the doctor’s office, including income, food, housing, education, gender, and race. The ideas that will be workshopped at the Incubator this year present three audacious ideas with the potential for creating a large impact at scale. Meet the 2019 Aspen Ideas Incubator presenters:

  • Devita Davison of FoodLab Detroit, driving a just and inclusive food system through local leadership and entrepreneurship

  • Alice Lin Fabiano & Kenneth Turner of Johnson & Johnson, investing in sustainable solutions for the global nursing workforce

  • Larry Wolk of The Wonderful Company, mobilizing the private sector to address the social determinants of health

These presenters will be joined by an expert community of implementers, partners, field experts and others eager to drive these ideas to action, and will bring forward new projects and learnings to the global Aspen Ideas: Health community.
