That&#8217;s why I support healthier SNAP standards.&#8221;<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Grounded in his lived experience as a recipient of food assistance during his childhood and his leadership as CEO of Unidos Contra La Diabetes in Texas\u2019s Rio Grande Valley, Arjona advocates for updating Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) guidelines to emphasize nutritional quality. Drawing a clear line between childhood food insecurity, chronic health challenges like type 2 diabetes, and long-term community well-being, he makes a compelling case for policy standards that not only alleviate hunger but actively nourish families and prevent chronic disease.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Arjona argues that federal food policy and SNAP standards should actively incentivize nutrient-rich foods, making the healthier choice the affordable, accessible choice for low-income families.
