The Aspen Global Prosperity, Security, and Strategy Group convening, Footholds for the Future: from Ideas to Action in Reimagining Global Development, brought together high-level individuals working on global development from across the public, private, and civil society sectors to consider what comes next for global development.
During a period of major budget cuts and shifting power dynamics within the development sector, the future of global development very much depends on how we shape the sector today. This diverse group of individuals convened to understand how we can ensure that the future wave of global development is impactful, equitable, and empowers local communities. Speakers shared innovative ideas on, among other things, how to improve global health outcomes, increase access to finance for development projects during a period of severe budget cuts, and how to incorporate new technology and AI into development efforts.
Participants were also asked to develop “Big Ideas” or large-scale solutions that could potentially address the sector’s most pressing challenges. By bringing together such a diverse group of experienced and motivated individuals, we were able to shed light on some very important ideas that will help shape the future of global development for the better.
