Abdul-Rahman Edward Koroma is a physically challenged disability activist, advocating for the rights and social and economic inclusion of individuals with disabilities. Driven by a profound commitment to promoting human dignity and holistic human capital development, his work is dedicated to advancing the welfare of his country, Sierra Leone.
After a life-altering car accident in 2015 left Abdul-Rahman unable to walk, he established the Center for Social Economic Empowerment and Development in Sierra Leone (C-SEED/SL) with a primary mission to support human rights and empower vulnerable women, children, individuals with disabilities, and young people to reclaim their dignity within their communities. As Country Director of C-SEED/SL, Abdul-Rahman’s vision is to strengthen and give voice to vulnerable and marginalized women, children, individuals living with disabilities and youths to enhance the spirit of self-reliance and sustainability. His focus areas include training, leadership development, socio-economic progress, gender sensitization, advocacy, and empowerment.
Abdul-Rahman’s career spans a broad spectrum of roles within the development sector, having served in various capacities for non-governmental organizations, including Education Project Supervisor at World Vision International Sierra Leone. He is a Board member of the Global Fund Country Coordination Mechanism and is an active member of the African Union Economic Social and Cultural Council (AU-ECOSOCC).
