Oluseun Onigbinde quoted in Daily Post Nigeria: 70% of projects in Nigeria’s budgets don’t last beyond 2 years – Expert

| December 20, 2023

“So many projects in the country do not last for two years, 70 per cent…This is because contractors that deliver the project do not have any track record of project delivery,” says Oluseun Onigbinde, our 2016 new Voices Fellow during an interview with Channels Television that was monitored by Daily Post. Onigbinde’s remarks come in the backdrop of the announcement of the 2024 N27.5 trillion budget to the National Assembly.

Calling for President Bola Tinubu’s administration to move away from fiscal recklessness, Onigbinde notes the need for a culture shift. He says, “it is about the culture of the government; people must look at the government and tell what it plans to do”.  By looking at the budget, he notes, is the government prioritizing the people or itself?
