Ahmed “Kura” Omar has 10 years of experience working with national and international NGOs. His experience ranges from direct field project implementation to coordinating program activities with teams of project officers and technical experts across different counties of Northern Kenya. He has in-depth knowledge of agendas relating to socioeconomic development, reducing vulnerability, and building resilience to shocks, climate change, and more.

He has demonstrated a combination of technical knowledge and hands-on experience in livelihood project activities, poverty graduation, and Village Savings and Loans. He is highly competent at liaising with stakeholders, donors, community members, and government organizations to ensure program success.

Ahmed has started over 3,000 businesses, trained over 9,000 new small business owners, and helped lift over 45,000 women and children out of extreme poverty. He is a co-founder of BOMA and served as its first employee. To date, BOMA has grown significantly, both in human resources and in geographical scope.
