Impact West Africa Senior Fellow Uche Udekwe has been named a Queen Elizabeth II Commonwealth Trust (QECT) Awardee in recognition of his work with Natal Cares.
The QECT Award commemorates what would have been Queen Elizabeth II’s 100th birthday, honoring young leaders across the Commonwealth who drive positive social change. Driven by the personal loss of a close family friend during childbirth in 2017, Uche dedicated his career to eradicating preventable maternal and infant mortality. Through Natal Cares, he leverages mobile technology, machine learning, and low-cost healthcare innovations to deliver vital medical monitoring, emergency services, and health education to at-risk pregnant women and mothers in rural and underserved communities in his home country of Nigeria.
